My Mom's BBQ Beans Side Dish

This is the one dish I asked my mom to give me the recipe for that did not have any real exact measurements but her ingredients and suggestions plus my own input made these beans an amazing side dish to our tuna steak dinner last night.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lg can Bush's Maple-Cured Baked Beans (or brand of your choice)
  • 1 lg can Bush's Black Beans (or brand of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cut BBQ sauce
  • chopped bacon bits (the kind you get for salad toppings)

Instructions:

  • Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees f
  • drain the beans
  • stir beans and all ingredients together
  • bake uncovered for approx 20-30 minutes or until the beans begin to bubble.

This dish was wonderful along-side the ahi-tuna steaks i seared (on my indoor Presto grill) in olive oil after seasoning with Old Bay, lemon and green onion. Cooked until pink in the middle and served with Jasmine rice. These are QED and maybe even better on an outdoor grill, but here in Florida during mid-July it's become way too hot and the mosquitos would have a blood-fest with us.
